Boxster 4.0 service cost

Hi all

Has anyone had a 4 year service completed recently ? Just got a +£2k quote from my local OPC and wondered if that’s usual figure or should I be shopping around ?

Sounds about right for an OPC, nothing stopping you asking elsewhere though and you might find you get a cheaper quote but it won't be a vast difference.

Whereabouts in the country are you situated? OPC Bournemouth give 25% discount on servicing to PCGB members which is a very worthwhile saving. I think Portsmouth give a similar discount.

I just booked mine with OPC Nottingham, was quoted £2600 ish, then received a 10% discount off parts as a PCGB member, so became around £2400

My 4.0 is booked in with my OPC for March. £1900 including MOT and PCGB discount.

Best practice is to shop around if you have a few OPCs around you or you’re willing to travel a bit. They don’t their own labour rates but prices for parts are pretty much fixed.

Do you get a break down of parts cost and then labour?

I know my 987.2 is a bit basic compared to the new cars, but the service items must be roughly the same?

At a well known indie by me I have used for 7 years now that service is round £700 all in.

Ouch these opc prices look outrageous in the last 2 or 3 years prices have gone through the roof.
We always used opc for the last 20 years for all our Porsches but iam afraid we now use specialist indies .
OPCs are outpricing themselves only my opinion of course

The parts are a fraction of any services its the labour costs.
Look up any parts catalogue to see the consumables prices.

Inspection - Every 40K Miles / 60K Kms or every 4 Years Inspection M.Y 2021 > (Main Work) 1 £1,864.91

1 x seal ring
1 x TOPUP/BAG

1 x WINDOW CLEANER OUTER
1 x Odour and allergen filter
1 x CAP
1 x Oil filter insert
8 x Engine Oil 0W-40 C40 X4 1L
1 x 1 Litre Brake fluid
6 x Spark plug

Total (Inc. VAT) £1,864.91
Nett Price (Ex. VAT) £1,554.10

The invoice doesn’t give a breakdown of individual parts or labour charge unfortunately although I do know they charge a ridiculous amount for oil.

Just paid Sheffield Porsche £2006.00 for major service incl mot . Nottingham Porsche quoted the same , Crazy money but unfortunately part of the deal if you wish to keep Porsche warranty .

Thanks everyone -really appreciated.

The work list is the same as Scrouger has listed so I am less 'shocked'....it is what it is....

Interestingly though, my 'local' OPC is East London who quoted initially, so I called my other nearest dealer -Colchester - to compare.

Colchester quoted the same for the service, but over the phone gave me 10% PCGB discount on the total quote.

As the car would be with both dealers for 2 days, Colchester don't provide a loaner, but will give me a lift to a station or £50 per day of Uber credit (neither of which works for me).

I then asked East London about PCGB - they said 10%, but only on parts, BUT they would provide a loaner....

Porsche East London is owned by Porsche UK and Colchester is owned by Jardine. I'm sure if you called another dealer that is franchised the price would be slightly different.

Sadly there isn't such a thing as fixed price servicing anymore.
