Boot lock on B reg 944

I'm doing some work stripping the rear hatch and resealing it also changing the gas rams and generally sorting the rear of the car.
But The boot lock doesn't match the rest of the locks or is totally jammed?
Does anyone know of an easy fix or someone I could send it to be sorted?

Have you removed thelock? or is it still conected to the mechanism? If it's out the remove the barrel and fill it full of wd40 and work the key.It's probably just really old dirty grease. Once you have it moving then regrease it and pop it back in.If not then it's more likley to be stuck latches.
 
I once asked a locksmith I worked with if He had any grease I could borrow and he looked at me like I had shot his pet cat. Oil or graphite on locks I vaguely remember.
 
I wondered exactly the same when I first got my '83 car - turned out it was the same lock as the ignition and different to either door (and they were different to each other - filler was same as passenger side!)

Soak in WD, fiddle, soak, fiddle, soak......it will come loose eventually[;)]
 
If your changing the gas struts make sure they are oem ....even better to buy used ones as aftermarket ones tend to be stronger they will de-laminate the glass with the increaed force..[8|]

If its a mismatched key issue then VW still do the lock tumblers so you can re-programme any lock to your key or re-programme your tumblers to a new key

Porsche might do them as they are a VW/Audi bit of kit

£50 ish though but will do about 16 locks so a group buy would work.
 
Thanks for the replys, I'll soak the lock in WD tomorrow and give it a try again. Having had a second play with it, it does feel like it could be for a different key.
I've finally seperated the boot glass from the alloy frame and what an epic that was! It was leaking like hell at the top and bottom but still bonded in at various points.
Going to clean it up tomorrow and paint it black again then try and bond it all back togeather.
I've bought new gas struts from Porscheshop that are apparently OEM but they do feel a lot stiffer than the ones on there, is the boot ment to open as soon as you press the button?
The current struts are so weak that the boot can lock again before you get around to it!
I managed to get 5 stuck screws out of the spoiler with WD40 after I had drilled the heads off to take it all apart, so nothing broken so far but it don't want to speak to soon otherwise I'll smash the whole boot lid!!!

I had heard that you could rekey the locks but can't understand how you disassemble the lock with the wrong key?

Amazing how much gunk actually gets into the lock. Found that once the roll pin on the end was removed the barrel pushed out with several gentle taps. Then I could see that the lock was wrong for the key and I had to grind the barrel pins flat with the key inserted. The lock is now sorted and with some thorough cleaning and oiling all is sorted.
Still got the window to reassemble and just to add to it, I'm now also remaking the rear brake lines as their rusty as hell.
Stripped the Callipers as well, pistons look good but pins were rusty so new pads and fitting kit all going in as well.
