The 924/944 has had three different bonnets:
Early 924 using a stick.
Later 924 and early (series one) 944 - similar using gas rams.
Series two 944 still using gas rams but with different internal support.
The series two 944 (1986 model year, built from September 1985) has a different firewall and the later bonnet has reloacted bracing to match this.

The last time I posted this, it caused an ex-member to become quite upset. He was adamant that I was wrong and even quoted PET, but unfortunately the part had been superceded, misleading him.

They all fit though Pete. In the past I have used an early bonnet on a late car, because late bonnets cost 3x as much (£100 Vs. £300 used).
Also, Porsche would fit a later style bonnet onto an early 944 now, as the earlier parts were discontinued years ago.
Thanks Simon, so I wasn't going completely mad...

Simon, the above (late) bonnet is avail with two screen washer jet types, one unheated, one heated - therefore even if the OP finds the correct era bonnet Sept 85> it is worth checking the washer jet cutouts.
Correct me if I have this wrong

Thanks Simon, so I wasn't going completely mad...talking of bonnets while searching earlier for crankshaft scrapers I found a US company that sells the bonnet sound deadening kits, among other 944 goodies. Not OEM as iirc it's no longer supplied but looks good enough to me. I will get some as I prefer it, makes the engine sound a lot quiter when the bonnet is closed.
Pete
Pete let me know how you get on with that mate. I have never been a great fan of the noisy bosch injectors. People who know no different say 'oohh sounds a bit tappety doesn't it'?

Will do Rob, I had planned to buy them with the crank scraper but another company replied to my e:mail first so I used them as the scraper is needed now. I will get the insulation later though as it looks good and is cheap, iirc $50.
