Hi,

Not sure if this is me being pedantic but I bought a Cayman S about 1 month ago and have recently noticed that the very end of the bonnet, the part that meets the bumber (from the Porsche badge to the tip) seems to reflect light back at a slightly different angle to the rest of the bonnet. Almost as if it is dented. Although the dent seems to be very uniform all the way from the left edge of the bonnet to the right from about where the badge is to the tip. Is it just the way the bonnet is designed or is it slightly dented????

The bonnet should sit slightly lower than the front section for correct airflow. Nick
 
Also, be careful when closing the bonnet. If closed clumsily it can cause a slight impression in that area. Some owners who were not aware have been known to close the bonnet pressing either side of the badge and causing two dents! I seem to remember that the bonnet is aluminium on some of the models, for lightness, but also more susceptible to denting. Nick is right, btw, the 997's are the same.
 
....all Cayman bonnets are Aluminum and never press the Porsche badge close it either.
 
So how best to close it? It doesn't always close completely by slamming if my experience on the 24h test drive is anything to go by...
 
Don't slam! Never ever slam one of these! [:eek:] Press with the flat of your hand over the latch or where there is a strengthened area - look underneath to see where.

Oddly, my OPC salesman specifically told me to push the bonnet shut by palming firmly on the badge. In any case, I've started pressing on the latch area as it feels a bit more robust there...
