bonnet and boot struts?

Hello all needing some new ones as the car decided to eat me twice today lol where can I pick them up at a good price

Be very careful where you buy the rears from - Id suggest somewhere like Berlyn Services (Bert Gear). The reason is that the rear struts are handed and if you buy a generic strut or fit left and right hand incorrectly then youll end up with electrical problems ranging from indicator/HRW failure, to a fire.

So what are the wires on the struts for? Is it just the heater strips or is it the wiper aswell?

Glad somebody's mentioned it....my bonnet struts are u/s on cold days. I've been looking around for a suitable length of broom handle....

Yes , the struts are an integral part of the heated rear screen circuit . Corrosion on the connectors and lower ball and socket joint on the drivers side strut can lead to a failed circuit and as already been mentioned possibly a fire . The previous owner of my 944 had disconnected the heated rear screen due to it smoking when in use . The rear struts had recently been replaced and suspecting they had been wired up incorrectly i set about with a multimeter trying to identify the problem . After several hours of repeatedly flogging my head on the locking pins it turned out it was corrosion on some of the connectors that had caused the problem and not the struts themselves .
