I guess this is a shameless plug for the usefulness of these types of Forum.....

I managed to see some dry weather a week ago and decided to take the car out from under it' s covers for a blast !....enjoyed it immensly...BUT[:(]

I noticed a horrible rattly/ whining noise from the rear. On parking up and messing about with the engine running and stopped I figured out it was the blower motor !

To cut a long story short I searched on rennlist and got a link to a detailed article on " pelican" ....see link attached
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/964_blower_motor/964_blower_motor.htm

I ordered the part over the web with Design 911, it arrived Friday....followed the instructions and fitted the replacement on Saturday.

Job Done !!!

Hope this helps somebody else

You can also have a noise if you happen to have moved the blower motor slightly as i had during vigorous cleaning, with the car running and the cabin heat set to high go to rear and wobble the motor and see if it makes the grinding noise, this will be the fan blades rubbing against the housing. It could as a first instance be worth removing the fan (3 bolts i think) and giving the motor and blades a clean and the bearings a lube, they will be filthy, reasemble motor and refit onto car and align carefully, if the noise has gone........Send me a cheque for the amount please [;)][:D]
