Bl@@dy Potholes!

Grrr- I hit a pothole on the way to work today- couldn't avoid it with a bus coming towards me and a pedestrian on the pavement!

3 miles later the back is feeling a bit woolley so I stopped and checked- the rear nearside tyre was looking low so I put the pump on & it was down to 25psi.

Pumped it up and drove on, and it held up, only losing another 5 Lb by midday. Took it to my Indy who couldn't see anything obvious till he took the wheel off, and the inner rim was showing a significant buckle. Luckily the bead had sealed to a great extent but not drivable safely. So it's off to Lepson's tomorrow to be straightened and in the meantime I've got a loverly narrow red wheel on the back, and likely to be at least 5 days turn-around!

The tyres are only 2 weeks old as well- but hopefully appear to be undamaged.

Considering whether to put a claim in to the local authority- they are obviously aware of the hole as they've drawn a nice yellow circle around it. Shame the chappie doing the marking wasn't given a few buckets of tarmac!

Thanks for that- 'my' pothole has already been listed, on 19th Jan. I think I'll see how much the repair costs before considering a claim- not worth the hassle if less than £100 !

How many points for a pedestrian with 2 dogs? Just for future reference you understand!

Not sure - but I do know that the number of points for each dog is inversely proportional to their size.[;)]

Good job I held back then- they were greyhounds :)

(just for the record here, in case there are any bunny huggers around, this is a hypothetical case! Mind you, bunny huggers and Porsche forums are probably not a likely match!)

I think you would be punished more for hitting the dog than you would a human being, its a mad world we live in.

It would also depend on whether they were retired greyhounds then.[:)]

And Slate or Meteor Greyhounds are worth more than Seal or Atlas Greyhounds due to their relative rarity...

I wouldn't mess with the Seals if I were you[&:] [;)]

And if you gave the wally's a bucket of tar they wouldn't get it right.
they would pour it on the flat.

If the quality of tarmac wasn't so poor it might have withstood the cold weather better, I remember reading that we use the cheapest quality in Europe.

But probably pay the most tax.

On subject of bunny huggers

We were at an intersting crash investigation talk last nigh Not a peep when pictures of cars with body under it but when a accident where a pedestrian and his dog were killed was shown AW poor dog...

..there's less of an 'AWW' factor if the dog/pedestrian is hit by a myopic Micra driver, but if it's a sports car..... [:'(]

There was a report recently about an unaccompanied 8 year old crossing a busy main road who was killed; of course the BBC 'reflex response' was ' 8 year old killed by Porsche sports car' implying that the car driver is always at fault in these circumstances. Maybe he was speeding- subsequent reports have not clarified, but it's the knee jerk reaction that always happens.

Maybe that's why there are so many potholes? Slows the traffic down and saves the authorities money!

Incidentally, 'My' pothole was miraculously filled in when I encountered it this morning. So, Pothole Fairies do exist.

Yes, saw that one. It turned out the 911 was dropped off at kwik-Fit for some tyres and 2 mechanics took it for a (wheel) spin up the road, unauthorised!!

If you want potholes come to Glasgow

Pothole capital of the UK!

Even the buses drive round some of them
