Best way to dispose of Catalytic Convertor?

Now I've managed to fit my De-cat pipe and new back box I'm wondering what to do with the Cat! Its still in good nick apart from being cut at one end where I removed it, is it worth selling? What have other members done with theirs? What would it be worth scrap?

Certainly worth scrap - which is why there's been a spate of low-lives sliding under 4x4s. You don't need to jack it up, and a few seconds gets you a saleable lump of precious metals. []

I've got a good, licensed scrap metal dealer near me. That's where I'd start.

As an aside, we've always put scrap metal out for "collection". We're in a nice area of 1930s detached properties, with quiet roads. Many of which are not through-roads, so very quiet. As the houses are big and old, we get quite a lot of kind gentlemen offering to do everything from donating their leftover tarmac to giving us a free roof survey with very competitive rates to replace the tiles they've stamped on. My record was our broken dishwasher, which was taken within 20 minutes of leaving it on the pavement! [&:]

Took it to the local scrap merchant today, got £30 for it, quite surprised really, beats chucking it away [:D]

I believe it's a legal requirement in Germany to run one if the car came with one, hence people who have a failed cat are keen to buy good used parts rather than new.
