Bedford Trackday insurance

Just rang Javelin to see if they do cover for their trackdays. (Bedford on 25th March)

They don't but passed on details of REIS (Ph 0115 965 1020) Who have quoted as follows:

944 Turbo 1987
Insured Value £8000.00
Premium £114.19 for the full day
Excess £1000.00

Based on me being 40, first track day normal tyres etc.

Has any one had any other quotes in? People I can try?

I did ask to see if they could do a bulk discount for forum but have said the premiums are individual. (Can't quite understand the logic as I am sure they could apply a percentage discount if say 10 of us went for cover)

Yep tried my insurer (RH on a classic policy) - they said the could look into it but that they were normally more expensive than the insurance provided by the specialist track day companies.

Was going to shop around a bit and then try them.

Moris appear to be the most competitive imo, which worked out about £75 for me, same as Classic line quoted me, £10,000 cover, £1000 excess.

Plenty of insurers will include track cover on specified events FOC if notified in advance. Single day cover is usually quite expensive, and because of the excesses, it's only really applicable to a write off. £100 sounds about right.

Obviously it's all about your risk appetite - Bedford is a very safe track, almost no armco to hit and loads of runoff. Much less chance of damage than at a normal racetrack. There is a slight risk of rolling the car (I have seen it done there) but highly unlikely.

I had insurance when I had a little armco incident at Rockingham years ago in the turbo. I had track cover as part of my policy with HIC but didn't bother claiming as the repair was just under a grand, so the excess would have covered most of that & I didn't want to affect my no claims discount.

Competition car insurance best quote so far as they were for the M3 last outing at Silverstone, still waiting for Moris to quote

£77.00 premium
£500 excess
£5000 insured value

RH Specialist would never cover me for track days in the past for the 911, but I don't bother with the 944 as it isn't worth enough. The following year I moved to an Classic Line who included club days for free. I did a BMW day once but can't remember what they added on for that.

C.C.I. It is then, Moris came back with the same premium but £1000 excess!
