Sold my 1982 survivor today
Bittersweet for me, really enjoyed bombing about in a UK first year car, a true survivor as it had had virtually nothing spent on it for the last 15 years, other than the filters, oil and spark plugs and a splattering of matt black that I did. I never found a local garage prepared to do the belts etc., so it just ran as it was.
Learned a lot about the pretty straightforward mechanics/electrics etc. definitely more VW than Porsche.........
Deciding factors were the loss of appetite for scrambling around underneath it in the winter and also a gut feel that the luxury of Historic status Tax and the MOT exemption will not last much longer.
Pretty much got back what I paid for it in 2022 so overall its been a relatively cheap experience.
So thanks to those who have offered advice and encouragement whilst I've been part of the forum.
Dave.
