What comes around comes around. In 2008 I moved from a 210 bhp JCW MINI Cooper S (the supercharged engine), to my first 2.7 Manual Cayman. Interesting that you are doing it the other way around. The JCW Cooper S is a very different car to drive compared to the Cayman, but I can understand your delight in enjoying driving it on the roads you know well.

Good news that your Guards Red 2.7 Cayman is going to a very good home where it will be much appreciated and cared for.

Time will tell whether you return to Cayman ownership. You'll discover how much you've missed it when it's gone.........

The RO from R2 asked me a while back if he could by my Cayman. I had a think about it for a while and decided to take him up on the offer and have a look around for something else.
I drove a new Cayman and as much as I enjoyed it, there wasn’t a big enough step up in enjoyment to entice me. I just fancied a change, so I decided to look elsewhere.
I had the 2.0 300bhp F-type out for a weekend. It looked stunning. It was pretty quick for the size of it but the handling let it down. The front end was great and went exactly where you wanted it to go but it’s rear was hesitant to follow the same line. The space inside is tiny. There is no storage space for drinks and nibbles on a run and you can’t access the boot from the cabin.... I was disappointed as it didn’t tick as many boxes as I’d hoped.
Anyway, after a few other forgettable drives, a friend offered me a drive in a Mini JCW.
I took it on a drive from Dundee to Balmoral castle via Glenshee. By the time I returned it to the dealer I knew that I wanted one. So I ordered a new one on the spot.
It’s not a small car. There is masses of room inside for the 2 of us. It is quick as well. It’s faster in the mid range than my Cayman. It has great tech in it that comes as standard.
I’m really enjoying it and enjoying getting out driving my same local roads in a different car; it makes the roads feel challenging again. I knew them so well with the Cayman I was bored driving them.
So, for the time being I’m sticking with the Mini and hope i have done the right thing in selling my Cayman.
My 924 still feels special to me and I’m thankful I have that as well.
So for the time being, I’m off... enjoy your cars.

I went from a Cayman S to a JCW S mini around 8-9 yrs ago

the mini suspension shook me like anything on our uneven roads and within 6 months I was back in a porsche (911)

Have to say I’ve had my 2018 Cooper S Works 210 for 4 months now, in most part it’s a great little fun car to throw around & plenty fast enough. But I’m finding the rock hard ride tire some along with the creaking dash & even on its lowest setting the ‘perched on a bar stool’ seating position feels a compromise. The result being I’m longing to get back in a Porsche, but need to hold fire due to work constraints at the moment

Enjoy the new ride and here's hoping we'll see you back here in the future - maybe when the cost of increased dental work due to the Mini's harsh ride proves too much for you..!
