Approved Tyres vs Recommended Tyres

Hi,

I have the Design 90 wheels on my 964 Targa. On the approved list are Pirelli, Michelin and Contis. With regard to Pirelli they suggest directional tyres on the front and asymmetric on the rear. Given the sensitive nature of the front end I'm guessing tyres choice is very relevant as well as suspension geometry. Any favourites out there?

I have the recommended Contis, but I preferred Pirelli PZeros, which I understood were no longer available in the 16" sizes.
 
Thanks everyone. Good news is that the Pirelli P Zero Directional Tyres are available in the 16". You can't get the Z rating but Y rating (186 mph) on the rears... About £90 for fronts and £135 for rears each.
