Anyone remember H7 BAL?

Hi All

I'm new to this forum and Porsche ownership, but I think my car has been involved before, as it has a PCGB sticker in the windscreen.
Does anyone remember H7 BAL?

All the best,
David

Hi David,

It's not on the database, but that's not unusual as often people own more than one Porsche and only register one. Looks great though. [:)]

Hi Paul

Thanks for looking anyway, much appreciated. I see you have a Titanium S2 as well [:)]

Thanks, I seemed to have been lucky and dropped onto a good honest sound example. The seats have been recovered (I need to sort some door cards out to match), but other than that I think it's standard. Been well looked after with a full service history too.

I had it serviced at the local OPC in June and they were very impressed. Only faults they could find were a non-functioning number plate light (replaced), leaking washer bottle, and the tyres aren't Porsche rated. There's a few paint chips I want to get sorted, but I just love owning and driving it. Having a Porsche on the drive is the best! [:)]

Cheers

he tyres aren't Porsche rated

Not an issue in the UK, where the highest speed you can do is well within the tyre ratings unless you fancy a spell in prison! [:D]

The car does look great. Make sure to treat the inside of the sills, and remove the wheel arch liner at the front to treat the lower part of the wings. 944s suffer from corrosion far less than other cars of similar age, and a lot newer as well (I saw a Puma today that was an absolute heap in just over ten years []), but keeping vulnerable areas protected is vital.

They're nearly new too, so no chance of me changing them. OPC said they were obliged to point it out tho, which is fair enough I suppose.

What would you treat those areas with Paul (apologies, I'm mechnically challenged)?

Thanks,
David

Bilthamber products seem to have been the most commonly recommended over the years. Hopefully someone has some pictures of treating the sills and wings we could make in to a faq!

Basically the front wing liners need to come out, the accumulated crud cleaned off, any corrosion treated then loads of preventative product applied. The sills are easy to access through the black vent in the door pillar below, and there are access holes under the carpet down the sides of the seats as well. Make sure the drain holes underneath are kept clear, something like a cable tie or some strimmer cable in each is fine.

The porsche 'N' rating is nothing to do with speed anyway - just whether they are a special Porsche version or not - there are very few 944 suitable n-rated tyres.

Welcome and congrats on choosing the best colour ;)

Thanks for the info Paul, I'll look into that. Any sort of guidance on how to approach the job would be a great help

I agree it's the best colour (for me anyway) Tony. Had to be a titanium S2 with cream leather or nothing! [:D]
