Anybody need an S2 Engine

Elliot

New member
I am collecting an S2 later today from birmingham area and a spare S2 engine comes with it. If anybody living in the local vicinity or on my way back to Lincolnshire needs an S2 engine let me know and i can drop it off.

Thought it was worth a go as you never know.

cheers Elliot

please call me on 07514 944 964 as i will not be at the computer for the rest of the day.

Hi Elliot, How much would you want for the engine if i was to come and collect it? (I guess you're still in Lincolnshire)

Also, is this the 3.0ltr engine?

Thanks, Adam

I changed my plans and i am now collecting tomorrow but i am looking for up to £600 for the engine, and yes it is an S2.

will be in a more educated position on monday.

I am collecting from midlands so if you are on my way home Adam i can stop and let you see it

cheers Elliot

It's probably a bit over budget for me, I'm planning on fully rebuilding an engine for an upcoming porsche 944 project so i would be looking for maybe an engine with a snapped cambelt that ends up being cheap to sell but beneficial for me as i will be rebuilding the whole engine. Thanks anyway though for the offer!

Could i ask of a favour, if/when someone does come to collect the engine from you could you ask them if they're willing to sell their broken engine as i will buy it for myself.

If you could, that would be great

Cheers, Adam

Adam

the car i am picking up is an s2 with a snapped cambelt (the other engine was one he had not got around to fitting) so i will have a project engine there if you want one.

How much were you thinking for a project one?

cheers Elliot

ps S2 engine has done 89K miles but obviously i need to have a look at it when i pick it up.

I was looking for around the £100-£200 mark (dependant on the damage done to the engine) but this is just a ball park figure as i'm not really that sure on what kind of money they sell for in the condition i am looking for.

How much would you want for your engine? Does it come with the box and any loom?

As i say this is a new project for me so i'm still researching what i will need to buy for a full rebuild and to hopefully make it last me a lifetime.

Adam

Adam a decent waranteed S2 engine with loom and ECU would normally sell for approx £795 so i suggest your budget of £100 to £200 is a bit tight for an S2 engine.

To give you an example an ECU can sell for £50 to £125 on its own and a good head can sell for up to £275ish

I will be removing the head on monday so can assess any damage.

If anybody needs separate S2 engine parts please let me know and i will assess the potntial to break the complete engine into component parts if Adam does not want it complete.

cheers Elliot

I might be interested in the head if the condition is OK as mine has wear on the cam supposts and it might be cheaper to buy a replacement rather than get mine line bored.

I hope to bend a few arms Sunday and have some of you guys look over my S2 at Helmingham car show, so I might be in the market for some spares depending on the holes that are picked!

I don't really have that sort of money at the minute Elliot, I should of done some more research on how much these engines go for (in a non running state) What is a rough figure i should be looking at saving for one?

Thanks again for help, appreciate it

Adam

A blown up S2 engine with valve damage all depends on if the engine is scrap or not. If it has bent the valves, it will be £200 to £300. A decent S2 engine can be had for about £600.
I have a couple of decent engines here if you need one.

Just out of curiousity Elliot (assuming it's still available) do you know history/mileage of the good engine?
I might need a temporary stop gap [:)]

Oops, just seen the mileage mentioned above, but still interested in history if there is any.
