Anti roll bar linkage dust cover

Hi

My car has just failed MOT for "anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover no longer prevents ingress of dirt"

I think it is 96434307001 they are referring to. Does anyone know if you can get hold of a dust cover to save replacing whole part? Also anyone tried the one match which is less than half price on d911 (£86 verses £182).

Thanks
Stephen

If the dust cover has split, dirt and grit will already be inside wearing away the inside of the joint

better to do the job properly once?

I'll put money on a different garage MOT not even bringing it up other than an advisory. Wear is not fundamentally a dangerous item - but not ideal as far as handling is concerned. Some early cars had no ARB's. Had a good chat on this with a garage owner who pointed out that since the new rules some regulation interpretation has become pretty subjective in some areas without any specific guidelines. When applying common sense and experience, he said typically they'll place it as an advisory only so at least it's been pointed out.

Yes that was my thought, this is the offending part. You can see it is weeping the grease. I'm going to replace anyway though £200 seems like a lot of money!

I also failed on the headlamp adjustment not working, which seems harsh so I might need to change mot garage.

Stabiliser arms (drop-links). Nope, you can't/shouldn't change only the dust gaiter. Changed both mine couple of years ago (C4's different to C2's). Ideally change as a pair. Very easy to do. Cheap enough from Design911 (10% PCGB discount)

My pair £204 all in from Design911 and are fine. It's not necessarily a part that has to be OPC at all.

Jack the front of the car up, both wheels off and undo the old arms and pull them off. Fit new arms and torque up and you're done.
