Another turbo.

I see a dealer that has been mentioned on here recently is advertising another turbo, now I can't be 100% certain as it was a while ago but this car looks very, very similar to one I looked at, the panel gaps put me off and the original owner admitted to me a couple of sales had fallen through due to a mileage discrepancy after HPI checks.

Oli, check out the turbo inspection thread. I think we're talking about the same thing.. eBay item: 280306913804

Hello, i posted the 'inspection points' thread. the photos of the service history he's put in the listing reveal that between 1999 and 2006 it covered a mere 6000 miles...........

Been back through the threads by about 4 months and almost launched my brew all over the keyboard [oh no, sugar!] laughing at a comment about Dubbers being like vultures hoovering up Porsche brakes on ebay! As a die hard Mk1 Golf GTI kinda guy all i can say chaps is...little brother is watching you...

Seriously now though, i read a post about the turbos having 'engine off' eleccy cooling pumps, can these be heard running?

I would have thought a HPI check would flag up the mileage, only £5 or so. I was into MK1 GTi's years ago, had 5 or 6 of them, great little cars. You can hear the pump circulating water through the turbo after switch off, still let mine idle for a while before switching off though.

You can also see a little fountain of water in the header tank when the pump is running - assuming you can see through the header tank that is.

excellent thanks, some idiot turned in front of me at 60 mph and wrote my Mk1 off 15k after a full engine rebuild and tune, now sits in the garden looking like a giant consertina waiting for engine out day.

Some bar-steward nicked my last Mk1 less than 5k miles after having had a performance cylinder head fitted. That was a lovely car ...

Oli.
