Alarm system

Would appreciate a recommendation for the best after-market alarm system. I have heard that there are touch-sensitive alarm systems that will even send you an SMS once the car is being touched

The original Porsche VTS system is made by cobra and can be purchased and installed directly from them. The UK spec system in all 997 vehicles already includes a battery backed siren, rolling key code immobiliser, interior sensing and tilt sensor , so there will not be much additional security offered by any aftermarket company. Only the vehicle tracking , which ideally needs to be tied into the police network rather than just the tracking supplier. In most cases its almost impossible to steal a modern porsche unless its trailered away , so this is your main issue. In such cases I'd suggest a wider coverage than just the UK. Unless you have a particularly rare model that cannot be replaced , i'd live with good insurance and the standard alarm. If it gets stolen would you want it back, would the insurers repair locks and glass / trim damage or missing parts ? The poeple that steal porsches know car security and will know ho to defeat it, so unless its stopped by police within a few hours, its likely to be out of range of the cell phone transmitter/ tracker pretty soon.
