Airbox DIY, er, I mean upgrade

I'm completely besotted with my 993 but the one thing that it could be criticised for is that it doesn't sound quite as loud and exciting as other pure sports cars. Porsche obviously refined the engine sound to make it more universally appealing and it's a relief at times - perhaps a a rip-roaring, neighbour-waking snorter would be tough to live with, especially on long journeys - but I can't help wondering what a throatier or more raw sound would be like.

Clearly there are replacement exhausts to consider but has anyone tried this?

I'm sorely tempted but it's not something that is easy to "undo"! Any views?

I did the factory sport airbox last year and the noise is much improved! - You get a vevry nice induction sound under acceleration which certainly makes the thing sound faster

Thanks chaps. I like the idea of the sound but I'm worried it will become tiring on motorway trips. I may just wait until things need replacing and go for it then - aiming to get a small HP gain and a nicer sound in one go.

I err DIY'd my air box and fitted the 90 deg 'air trumpet' under the fixed wing - there appears to be no additional noise on cruise throttle - only louder when 'givin it sum![8D]
Now once I've fitted the RSR'sexhaust boxes that might be different matter![&:]
