AIR CONDITIONING PLEASE HELP

Yes it's that time of year, not being use to a/c in a 911, finding it hard to get any cold air out of the system have tried loads of different settings, can one of you experts please tell me the OPTIMUM setting of ALL switches and buttons please. Maybe it needs a service, seemed to work ok on the test drive!
 
One way to tell if it needs re-gassing is to watch the clutch on the compressor, with the A/C on. If there is no gas pressure, a microswitch will dissable the clutch. A safety measure, it seems. Anyway, works like that on my 3.2 carrera, so can't be that much different on a 993.

I hope you have been regularly running the A/C over winter, to keep the seals lubricated (I never turn mine off).
 
993 Compressors give up after about 10 years. On tickover does rpm drop considerably when a/c turned on?
 
I would say it needs gas, compressors are normally very reliable, I try to use my AC all year round,
this has helped a great deal, because I am still getting cold air, when normally it would need re-gasing
about now.

I'd have the gas checked. The microswitch should set the vents etc automatically despite how you've set them so as long as you have it set on coldest with the fan running it should look after itself. I keep using mine over the winter occasionally which seems to keep the seals lubricated
