Air con regassed

I've just had my air con regassed, it now blows cold but I'm noticing a bit more noise now. There is a bit of a whine from the compressor and a slight tinkling noise from the blower which wasn't there before. The strangest thing is that I now feel a vibration through the steering wheel. As it's my first boxster maybe these things are all normal? Could anybody comment please.

Can't say that I recognise the symptoms you describe, but bear in mind that with the system re-gassed the compressor is now working harder. This may account for the whine and maybe the additional loads being transmitted from the powertrain to the chassis are causing the vibration you're reporting. The blower itself is a separate entity from the aircon so I can't believe that the tinkling noise is connected, but who knows?

Age of the car? Mileage? Do the symptoms go away when the aircon is turned off?

Thanks for the reply, It's a 2001 986, done just over 80K with a full service history. When I bought it (first boxster I saw and drove, cardinal sin!), the air con didn't blow cold but I wasn't really bothered. The symptoms only started after I had the re-gas and stop when the air con is turned off. The blower speed changes ok, all the flaps work, blows warm and cold and the condensors look ok without any debris build up. As I drive the car, the noise is getting less obtrusive or maybe I'm just getting used to it. Maybe I ought to drive a few more.
 
You probably wouldn't have had any noise before because the compressor won't run once there is no refrigerant pressure in the system. AC compressors are never totally silent and the pipework in the 986 seems to carry the noise to the front of the car, so it sounds like it's coming from the front. My recently sold '00 2.7 with 95000 miles was getting particularly noisy at idle, I suspect it was on it's last legs, my 'new' '02 57000 mile 3.2 is just about audiable.

 
Different engine so may be irrelevant to your issue.

987.2 2009 2.9
A/C failed slowly, punctured/ rotten rad, loss of gas.
Repaired the lot, re-gassed and the A/C is now great but no sound differences at all, A/C on or off. I am old, so maybe a bit deaf too...
