Aftermarket Immobilization disconnection.

Having not being able to start my car after replacing, Crank sensors x 2 , dizzy, rotor arm, ht leads, spark plugs, DME fuel relay, ECU, fuel pump, I have come to suspect that the immobilizer system is stuck on. There is a lock in the drivers side rear wing to which I have no key. As I have no spark in the engine but power on the coil, and no power to the fuel pump, I had a brainwave whilst watching Mike Brewer and Ed China repairing a 944 last night that my immobilizer system might be activated.

Anyone help with the disconnection or dis arming of such a system please. I have no experience of car alarm systems.

Might it be possible to just replace the lock/barrel to one with a key?

Any and all help appreciated. I feel i'm so close to putting this car on the road but sooooo frustrated at the same time.

Initially I would trace the wires back to their connections into the loom-presumably you know where the immobiliser is fitted-if it is working ,then you should also be able to short out the key switch terminals or disconnect them to replicate the key action.
Turning the ignition key on without cranking the engine,you should hear the fuel relay click-the pump should then run briefly-cranking the engine ,you should see the tacho needle twitch indicating that the crank ref sensor is active-if it doesn't,try disconnecting the 3 pin Bosch plugs at the rear of the engine,put a little "set" on the male pins (twist each one gently to ensure better contact),touch of Wd40 and/or vaseline & clip them back together.
It certainly sounds like the ECU is not initiating spark at the moment.
Final step;-sell the car[:)]
 
don't tempt me. Down side is, i've just removed the IMMOBILIZER lock to find there's no wires connected to it. DOH!!!!!! I have got a new ECU on it now, but still no spark or power to the fuel pump.

Just been told that a friend of mine used to work for Welsh Porsche. Just left him a message. Hopefully he can come and take a look, or have a better idea of what's going on.

I have kept a spare match just in case all else fails.
 
I had issues and had a company come to my house and remove all the old wiring/alarm stuff and fit a new Thatchem approved Toady thing for a couple of hundred quid

Got rid of all the issues see the thread here
 
In that case,find the thing & remove all it's connections wherever they are patched into the loom/electrics.
I'll send you a spare match-nihil carborundom illegitimus.

First things first...!
Does the barrel at the drivers quarter panel look like this ? The oriantation should be north south - Mine is wrong

If it is like this then yours has a factory alarm and immobiliser and its easy to bypass - If not then its aftermarket.

What year and model is your car...?.. If you tell me I will talk you through it.. What checks to perform. We will start at first principles [;)]
 
Vanhireboys, It does look like that. Biggest problem now is........... i've taken it out to start tracing wires and found that there was nothing connected to it????

This brings me back to the question, why do I have no output from the fuel pump and spark from engine?

Who had the spare match?? lol


I WILL NOT BE BEATEN. Found out today that a friend of mine used to work for Welsh Porsche. He has agreed to have a look if I can get the car to his house about 7 miles away. So now all I need is a trailer. Figuring that it must be electrical.

A bit obvious but the alarm relay is close to the ECU with a small plug and a big plug.. The relay itself may be gone but the plug will be there. In cars without the alarm

1 and 4 are bridged .. Green is bridged to black/white.. This is the supply to the DME and fuel pump
7 and 8 are bridged Blue to Yellow/Red - This is to power the remote tailgate if memory serves me correctly

Im not 100% certain of this info as I am at work and working off the grey cells

Also check terminal 86 of the DME relay .. It should have 12v on it with the ignition on if the alarm is not active....!

I have no diagrams until I get home so I am trying to remember.... I am surmising now that the car had the factory alarm and this gave trouble so was bypassed - This bypass now is giving trouble - Keep an open mind.. Dont discount anything.....! Let us know how it goes [;)]
 
Cheers VanhireBoys, Managed to drop the car off yesterday. When the fault is located, I will certainly post the problem and the fix in case there's anyone else out there having a similar problem.
