Advice needed: Targa or Convertible

[FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium"]Hi, looking to get in to a more everyday driver (inc. winter) from my current 991.2 GT3, which is the best car i’ve owned by a country mile - but I’m sick of it being in the garage in really bad weather. Would love a Targa 4 GTS, my worry is i’ve seen people getting rid of them or complaining about the roof making noises and random rattles etc… which is worrying me. Comments from people in 992 gen cars.

has anyone got any feedback who has or owned a 992 targa. I think the convertible looks amazing too So that’s also an option.

I've just parted with a 992 T4S after owning from new for just over a year. I absolutely loved the car and used it through all seasons - did about 6500 miles in total. The roof was fine for me - once I realised the lift up deflector has 2 positions - it makes a big difference and has minimal wind noise IMO. The interior bar in the back came loose a couple of times causing a rattle but was soon put right (I think it comes out completely and still not sure what its actually meant for - it looks like it just marks out the space needed for the roof to fold in to). So no real issues in my experience.

Targa v Convertible is very subjective - I loved the Targa not just for the (classic) design and looks but also its every day practicality as well as its ease to live with and use in all types of situations.

I absolutely loved the car and would recommend - I'm likely to get another one at some point. The only reason I traded it was the opportunity to get a 718 GT car which I didn't want to turn down before its too late. DM me for more info/questions if helps.

Sorry, only just saw this.

I have a 992 T4S but have only done about 1500 miles so my views may not count for much but I’ll highlight a couple of points.

I noted lots of reviewers comments (YouTube etc) on how noisy the cabin gets with the roof down. As per the previous reply, there is a deflector that has 2 positions. If you use it, it’s no different to any other soft top I’ve ever driven for noise.

I’ve also had the noise on the cross bar in the back. This was immediately identified and resolved by the OPC and it’s cured now.

I expected more "small rattles” because of the roof and it’s fine, its just like a Carrera when the roof is up.

Unfortunately I can’t help with a comparison with a 992 Cabriolet as I’ve never driven one.

What is the difference in stiffness of the body between the coupe and targa/convertible. I recall reading 15% some time ago but I also recall it as the convertible being only 15% as stiff as the coupe. Not sure my memory is correct as 15% less seems more likely. Can anyone help? Thanks.
