ABS Harness - Earth?

Hi Guys

The earth wire on the shock end of my OS front ABS harness has snapped flush with the cylinder thingy (middle of attached image). ABS is working fine and so is the pad wear sensor. I noticed there is also an earth at the engine bay end of the harness., which is fine. Is the earth at the shock end really needed? I know Porsche put it there blah blah but everything works without it so just seeing what your thoughts are.

Hi Stuart,

Check for continuity between the intact earth and one of the connector pins on the other end.

IIRC when I fitted new crimp connectors on my rear ABS leads there was continuity between the earth lead and one of the pins in the connector.

Unless it is looking for a particular resistance (doubt it) over the length of cable, I'd assume it was done for redundancy?

Thanks David. Mirrors my thoughts and would explain why it isn't causing an issue. I have another loom on the way to me so I'll swap it out anyway so it can double earth itself!
