A Horny Problem

Hi Guys,

I am having a bit of a problem with the horn push on my 911. It's sticking in and not returning when I operate the horn. Instead of a short, friendly 'peep', it's sounding for a minute or so until it eventually returns and cuts off.

I'm getting some really agressive reactions from other road users and wondered if anyone else has had the same problems and if there is a simple fix?

Car is not getting used much over the winter so I thought it might just be lack of use (although I very rarely use a horn in day to day driving).

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Barry.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the reply.

I thought about WD but just a bit worried it might cause more problems than what I am trying to cure. Not sure what sits behind the horn push but there must be the airbag gubbins somewhere in there.

I'll give the boys at Leeds a call and see what they say.

Cheers.

Barry.

Have you changed the wheel at any time Barry? I read somewhere that air bag wires can get trapped and cause the horn to stick. Not uncommon, apparently, although new on me.

Hey, now theres a thing!

Haven't changed the wheel, but just talked to the nice guys at Leeds and apparently it has happened on a couple of Cayennes and the airbag becomes dislodged and the wires trap the horn push and prevent it from returning.

A trip to Leeds and a half hours labour hopefully will sort it.

Suppose the firm suspension and the appalling pot holey roads around my neck of the woods might have caused it....

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

Best regards.

Barry.
