997 Remap ECU?

Hello,

I have a 997.1 w factory fitted X51 Powerkit. As an Engineer I just can't leave things alone :( ... previously I had a boosted Turbo and I am missing the mid-range. Hence I am thinking a remap might give me a little more? Does anyone have good experience with this? I was thinking of DMS, they seem to have some impressive offerings for turbo cars.

Chris,

A remap on your naturally aspirated engine will only provide very modest gains compared with those on a turbo engine. Have a look on this US site:

381bhp to 403bhp and 307lbf-ft to 328lbf-ft for your 3.8L with X51 are hardly startling improvements!

Compare those figures with those for a 997.1 3.6L Turbo: 480bhp to 590bhp and 460lbf-ft to 600lbf-ft … that’s what I call an improvement! ??

A remap will optimise the tune for Super Unleaded fuel, if that’s what you plan to use regularly, and also should improve drivability, making the car feel more responsive without improving its performance significantly.

Hello Jeff,

Actually this is exactly what I am looking for. I generally run 99oct fuel as it is available here and I just need a bit more shove. I have had a Turbo and I am not looking for that; at least not yet! A bit more responsiveness, a little more torque and 400ish hp is just about the sweet spot for a 997.1 I reckon!
