996 TURBO vs 996 GT2 vs 997S

Also on the '997' board, but thought I'd get an opinion from you 996 boys and girls...

Ok, here goes, friend of mine is stuck between buying a 997S a 996 Turbo and a 996GT2, all of which are currently around the same pricing. He's moving on from a 993 Turbo (S Spec) which his had for the last 8 or 9 years! (This will be up for sale very soon if anyones interested). He prefers the shape of the new 997, can't afford a 997 Turbo or GT3, but wonders if he'll miss the straight line performance of his 993 by choosing a 997S. Eventually, he'll have to test all 3 back to back, but kinda difficult finding a GT2 locally to test! Any first hand experience would be great on this!
Thanks,
Dan.

Man, that is a tricky call. If it is just a play thing then I would like to think if I had the money I would go GT3 or GT2 route.

If he wants to use it and put some mileage, then the 997S pulls ahead but the 996 Turbo might be the better finanical buy with less depreciation, especially if he waits for the 997 Turbo to come out and the 996 Turbo prices might drop a tad more.

GT2; every time...[;)] (but always assuming you can find a good one). It's a phenomenal car, and great value for money at the moment.
