A friend in Nairobi (seriously) looking to buy a 964, the 996 good car, watch the RMS, X50 and sports exhaust good options.
I moved from a 964 targa to a 996t fours years ago. Very different cars, but both great in their own ways. I do miss the 964 sound, but the turbo does have a Tubi exhaust which helps.
Turbo is way faster, which is nice, but also means you end up being much quicker to get the same sort of feedback. More useable, and no rust to worry about, but turbo running costs aren't low.
As long as you're aware of the potential 996 Carrera engine problems, then you could get a really nice car.
964 values have lept since selling mine :-(, but 996 turbo's are also edging upwards, so not so bad.
