993 Suspension refurbishment

Hi

Question for those of you who have recently refurbished your suspension or have experience of it. A friend has a 90k mile 993 and suspension seems a little loser than other cars I have driven. For some reason, seems less stable at speed in particular. He has had geometry checked and adjusted correctly with only small improvements.

He would like to renew the suspension and wants to know what work this involves, costs, suggestions for suppliers / fitter and whether it is cheaper to buy the parts seperately.

I was thinking replacement Bilstein HDs and new bushes all round - is there any thing else that should be done?

Feedback and recomendations appreciated.

Thanks

Have a look at Maurice's post in the tech section. I had the Bilstein HDs and M030 springs and anti roll bars fitted to mine. I also had the front wishbones changed. I would highly recommend this package.

I purchased everything except wishbones from carnewal and had them fitted in the West Midlands.

I think you did post in response to a suspension query I posted on PH way back but I've forgotten (d'oh!) so, please remind me, how much did it all cost, PP?

I'm assuming parts, fitting and alignment isn't going to see much change out of £1,500 - at least.....?

I hate doing this as it reminds me how much money I have spent on my toy:-

Bilstein HDs, M030 Springs and and anti rollbars about £1000
New front wishbones about £375

Fitting of all the above, corner weights and alignment £1160

You can save on the wishbones by using the rebushed versions from Hartech and you can get all the fitting done for about £600 as opposed to the £1160 that I paid.

Yoda, if you want to keep your existing ride/handling balance replace the dampers and front wishbones only. I changed the dampers to Bilstein HD and the wishbones for RS versions on my C2S last year and am very happy with the set up.

I fitted it all myself using the excellent guide over on Rennlist - it's a very straightforward job, assuming you can do basic car work.
