993 engine cooling fan

Hi!
I'm an overseas member living in Asia, so have only limited tech advice available.
I have discovered a crack at the base of one of the cooling fan blades on my C2S and before going to the expense of shipping one out, I'm wondering if it's feaseable or sensible to weld the crack and balance the fan afterwards.
Can anyone confirm if this is possible/acceptable.

I'll keep an eye open for any reply- have purchased a fan from U.S. but if the old one is deemed repairable Will keep it as a 'club' spare!
