Just been looking at the Navi function on my new 987.2. I quite like the interface vs using Google Maps but it's obvious that some of the map data is out of date. I've been doing some research and see that Porsche delivered a PCCM+ for the gen 1 cars but nothing yet for the gen 2(?). There seem to be a few companies such as SatNaviShop who supply DVD update with USB activation. Has anyone done a recently successful map data upgrade and who supplied this? Looking for some advice and recommendations please ...
987.2 Map Data

I used satnavishop to upgrade the maps on my 981 a couple of years back. It was slightly tricky as I needed to update the PCM software as well but the support provided was excellent and good value compared to what it would have cost from an OPC.
SatNaviShop have just come back to me and advised that they don’t have an update for my unit in the 987.2, which runs V2.20. I guess I will just have to make the best of it and accept it as part of the character of the car. I’m going to try entering some Lat Long co-ordinates for the positions it doesn’t cover with post codes and street names, see how that works out. We’re off to a remote barn in Wales next week that doesn’t even appear on Google Maps so that will make a perfect test case!I used satnavishop to upgrade the maps on my 981 a couple of years back. In previous cars I’ve used Google Maps on my iPhone, which has been ok, but the PCM screen is larger and I like the junction countdown that comes up under the tachometer. I’ll probably just go back to using my iPhone if the PCM proves to be hopelessly out of date … Interestingly, last year in France we had 36 degrees Celsius and my iPhone overheated and shut down because it was just behind the windscreen. So that’s something to think about too. At least the PCM is in a cooler position.
pcm maps for the 987.2 stopped around 2019 - after that there was a bug related to zoom - porsche answer was to say "latest maps aren't supported" . if yours has never been updated then you may require a software update as well - otherwise you wont get 7 digit postcode sarching
They are at least a year ( perhaps 2) out of date when they get published and OPC will charge you upwards for £500 to upgrade them - other options are available but aside from the integration they are woefully out of date, and the routing is weird - more than once it tried to take me off a motorway junction to then rejoin - "white van routing".
I totally get integrated and factory orignal and all that - but in my opinion - don't waste your time and money in the pursuit of mediocre

Agreed … I’m going to keep it original and I’ll use my iPhone for any serious navigation. I did use it over the weekend on a road trip to North Wales and it was pretty good, most of the time, for a 2011 unit; a sort of vintage experience! I’ve discovered that entering GPS coordinates, for locations it doesn’t know about, works quite well.pcm maps for the 987.2 stopped around 2019 - after that there was a bug related to zoom - porsche answer was to say "latest maps aren't supported" . if yours has never been updated then you may require a software update as well - otherwise you wont get 7 digit postcode sarching

do you have the universal audio interface in the arm rest ? if so there is a neat device that plugs into there - into aux and usb thing your phone connects to over bluetooth - you can then at least hear the phone directions over the cars speakers - i used that for 5 years until i caved in and went the cheap aliexpress head unit route - which apart from it's "chinese quirks" is a decent experience and took 20 mins to install - I consider it a consumable device and will review/replace or go back to original when it annoys me enough
