981 Cayman S - CTEK XS3.8 12v 7 Step Battery Charger

I have seen a 12V cigar lighter socket in the armrest and the glove box, however this connecter did not come with the new charger but i see it can be obtained from Hamiltons if its best to connect it here?
Appreciate any advice from anyone using a similar charger on the best way to connect it, use it, and what to expect, as i don't want to damage anything by not using it correctly!
Thanks

P.S. I now use permanent battery post connections simply because it is more convenient given mains power access.

Some of the post suggest not to use the sockets and to correct to the battery!

Thanks Richard
the charger kit.
[ul][*]BTW use of the sockets is time-limited when drawing off current so as to avoid flattening the battery, however this doesn't appear to be the case when inputting electrical current during charging - that's my experience anyway. [

mr pg said:The interior chargers on my 981 CS are only active for 20-30 mins after switching ignition off, so no good for plugging Ctek into. Mine is connected to the battery using the battery adapter, fed through so it comes out near the wiper blade. I tuck it away before pulling car out of garage.
I've read a few posts on different forums about this in the last 24 hours. The general advice seems to be that any of the 3 internal sockets fitted to all 981s can be used (not sure about the 4th you get with the smokers pack). You're right that they cut of after 30 mins from turning the ignition off, but apparently NOT if there is a charger plugged in.
The important thing apparently is to ensure you plug the charger in within that 30 minute window. Then the socket remains live indefinitely. So as long as you plug the charger in soon after parking the vehicle you are fine. Where it would NOT work is if you plugged it in more than 30 mins after switching the ignition off.
Hope that helps
