Picked up on a different thread that a new 968 owner has never seen any others on the road!

Theres a nice looking yellow cs about 5 miles from me, a red sport under a cover within a half mile, and i keep passing another yellow cs every few weeks.

Always a flash of the lights as recognition as well (which I've not seen with 964's..)

btw - its south west london suburbs...

Rare sight indeed. I have had my car since the beginning of this year, and I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've ever seen another one on the road.

I now know of a few through joining the club, but that's a different matter.

Agreed. I've only seen one other on the road - a red CS or Sport in September near Oulton Park (it was difficult to tell as it was a twisty road the closing speed was quite high!), but just enough time for each of use to acknowledge the other with a wave.

Only 2752 or so 968's were orderd world wide as i remember reading in 911 and Porsche World few months back. So extremely rare! As my steak! hahah
I was looking for a 968 Coupe for 3 months! Settled for a 944 S2 instead as i could'nt find one.

Agreed, they're as rare as hen's teeth, Took me 15 months to find mine!

I'm sure someone can beat that...

There's one half a mile from me, but only because it belongs to a mate and I talked him into buying it [:)]

Anyone know how many were imported to the UK? The buyer's guide to the convertible in last month's GT Purely Porsche says that 218 convertibles were imported but nothing about the tintops.

Only 218 official import cabs in the UK! I didn't know I was part of such an exclusive club. Nice to see we now have a section for enthusiasts of this great Porsche model. I felt quite left out only having the "modern Porsche" section previously.

You obvioulsy have a similar taste in proper lightweight vehicles!

My CS is the yellow version with the subtle decals down the side! In the 5 years or so that I have owned mine, I have only seen 2 others like mine, one in Guildford, and the other just outside Esher.

964 RS
968 CS
Caterham 7

Now that's a car collection!

My CS is the yellow version with the subtle decals down the side! I have only seen 2 others like mine, one in Guildford,

And I'd be prepared to bet that is the one I nearly bought! Small world.

got to say I love the 968 in yellow - looks awesome. I also like the graphics - mine were deleted as an option and I was almost tempted to get them put back on [8D].

Lightweights are the only way to go - C Chapman had it right - to add speed first remove weight (or something along those lines...!).

BTW - Passed 968GOR again this am in Isleworth - one of the local 968CS's in bright yellow.

Naturally, I'd agree with your sentiments about speed-yellow! That's the reason it took me so long to find this car.

Interestingly, the car also looks pretty spectacular in Riviera blue which is the non-metallic bright blue, but I've only ever seen a couple of them in that shade.

I'd love one in a really wacky color (as our American friends say). One of our US cousins just bought this fantastic metallic raspberry coupe with almost zero miles recently on Ebay.
