968 Engine mounts

I am just about to fit new engine mounts to my CS.
I have very good instructions for the 944, off Paragon's web site in the USA penned by one of their customers who mentions that Porsche say they should be changed every 36,000 miles , but I was wondering if anybody has done this job already and has any handy tips to pass on before I crawl under and commence swearing.

Boring history on car. Import from South Africa so RHD but Km speedo and has factory AC. Done 105000 km and was on reg no. K29 SNP if anybody remembers it from the past and it has got some past ! Mad maritime blue.
Cheers.
Dave.

A non-Porsche garage did the engine mounts on my 924S, (essentailly the same) took them about an hour. Easy enough job with a ramp and the right kit, but not a job to tackle on you driveway with the car on a trolley jack. I'd pay someone to do it.

I've changed them on both a 924S & a turbo no lift but using jacks etc about 2 1/2 hours. If you are at Castle Donington then pop down to PH Sportscars in the Waterways Yard by Cavendish Bridge and see what they'll charge you.

Thanks chaps.
I am actually an ex Plant fitter (NCK cranes,CAT D9's etc not daffodils !) with Balfour Beatty in a previous life so have no probs with the job itself, tools (2 jacks 8 stands lots of spanners) or room in my big double sad carpeted garage with heat !

What I wondered was is there any little things to be done that would make the job easier?

I have had all the other work done at Hartech (who are superb) due to time and the car being my daily driver (and be not being as bendy as I used to be!) but I now need to get to know the car better.

Yes Steve it was the one at Telford. I swopped him a white 944 16v I'd had off a garage in Chester which had done 130k but drove great which is why I bought the 968. I took it to Hartech and £3000 later it was fit for it's purpose !

I did 25km in 9 months inc Le Mans (were we glad of the air con - ring Cool Running in Leicester on 01162 248 233 if you need a/c looking at) but am now concentrating on trips and track days. Did my first one at Donington last year - brilliant !

I did have EBC green pads but the discs warped v.quick which I am told is a common problem if you do not match them with better discs. Is that right ?

I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Dave.
