Im keen to buy a CS and this one is of interest. I think his reserve price is a bit high at around 12k for a LHD, but does anyone know of this car or have any opinions on it? I'm bidding at the moment, but dont want to get too carried away[:D]

But I know I will.....

I know others have seen it and they say it's a very nice car. James, the seller, is a regular contributor on 968.net and he's talking about it in this thread. http://65.61.16.109/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7138

A CS with Air Con is a bit unusual and a nice addition IMO, he says it has an LSD which if you want the most fun on the track then this will certainly help you smile more. As to the price, it's a LHD so it's price will be lower than any similar spec CS. So it needs something to justify the £12k asking price - well it's average mileage, so nothing extra for that, it's not an M030 version which would have helped the price, it appears to have had a of work done to it but that doesn't raise the price in itself.

It's a funny thing with 968's and especially so for the CS, if it's in the right condidtion and the car that does it for you then you might be hard pressed to find another one in such good condition and in the right colour/spec, in that case it's worth it to you. But for example, i was looking for a Sport, last summer, because i needed to carry my kids around occasionaly and i ended up buying my 94 LHD CS with 52k miles, it didn't have a full OPC service history, it had the factory fitted comfort pack, which puts in sports seats in place of the buckets, Air Con, electric boot release (thank heavens), central locking and 2 rear seats for the kids. and i paid £8k for it last September.

Oh. and BTW mine is in superb condition as it too had been lovingly looked after and only having low mileage on it.

good luck

Del.

LHD maritime blue CS is Porsche Post this month with similar miles and spec for £9k ish

Similar car also on autotrader maritime blue, major problems sorted for £8250

A 12k reserve seems alot for a LHD non M030 car, even thought its had a fortune spent on it, but looks a nice car all the same.

Bummer, this is the car I've had on hold whilst selling the MG, obviously James can't wait any longer [:(][:(]

Anyone want an MG for 8.5K ????

His reserve price could be lower than the Buy It Now.

On the other hand, if it is at that sort of level I think it might not sell. We shall see, but either way it will give us a good insight into the current market value of these cars.

Having seen it in person, I can confirm that it does look the absolute nuts though!

From all the examples I've looked at it is the one I most liked aestheticly right colour, nice condition although I think it is a little over priced for a left hooker, especially when you can pic up RHD examples for similar money.

The red one on Pistonheads is in similar condition although much lower mileage and it is an M030 spec so has all the track toys, but its still there unsold at £13.5K. Also MCP Motorsport have a Lefty which has been advertised for ages at £13.5K too, so obviously they are pitched too high.

Time will tell.

Autotrader is bursting with them tonight, MCP have dropped the price on theirs now to under 12 and Malton have all their overpriced examples advertised, loads of choice if your lucky enough to have cash in your pocket [;)]

Hmm, beg to differ. 3 pages of results - in the summertime I've seen it as high as 6. I know you're desperate to buy, but the choice will improve with the weather.

Always worth a look at the Malton site for some true comedy pricing though. 968 Sport for £20k, 944S2 (in white) for £13500, 928S4 with the wrong wheels for a staggering £21k!!

Alex I'm not that desperate yet buddy [;)] no MG sale = not enough cash = no Porsche for Mikey just yet [:D]

Good things come ...............or so they say [;)]

Well, thanks for the comments guys. I think I will keep the bidding going, with 8 days to go anything could happen. If it is as nice as its sounds its exactly what I want, but I will not go as far as £12k. Del...thats an incredible price you paid, talk about a bargain! I have noticed the one on Topmarques for £8.25k and the LHD in P Post for £9.5, seems to me that this is the sort of price range the cars go for privately. And it won't find a better home to go to....

Thanks again for the responses..

Had an email from James this morning, he is leaving for Australia Monday so his brothers selling the car for him. He reckons he's spent nearly 11K on it, so if you were to buy it I think you could be sure its been cared for.

Mike

Cheers for that Mike, thats alot of money spent! I will phone the no. in the ad later to get some more info. I guess the best thing is either to keep an eye on the ad till the day before expiry...either that or make him an offer now [:)]

Glenn

..looks like I've got some competition now! It'll be interesting to see where bidding ends.

Glenn

In my experience of Ebay, your best to decide how much you want to spend now and make that bid. As you probably know the system will only bid for you if someone exceeds your current winning bid, and until your max level is reached.
Otherwise you'll find that at the last second someone will outbid you and pip you to the post. It can be really irritating when that happens, lost a few that way a its down to whos got the fastest finger in the end.

Really kicking myself over it cause I wanted that one and I've still not managed to shift my MG so no cash to make him an offer []

Mike

I agree re. ebay Mike, it can be very frustrating. I've spoken to James and he is keen to get £12k for the car. The question is what to do. I have also spoken to the seller of the car in Topmarques and he has had a few offers less than the £8.2k its up for. From the pictures he has sent, the car doesnt look bad but it is not in the same league as James' car. I was going to try to see both cars this weekend, but other commitments and weather have put paid to that.
