964 Oil Lines Help needed

Hey guys,

Anyone know exactly what size the compression nuts used on the 964 oil system? I have stripped down the entire system and some of the tube nuts are pretty worn out. The PET and workshop manual is not specific about the size. I think they're M30 2.0 pitch (use a 36mm spanner) ???

Any ideas~?

If no one can tell you, I suggest taking the nut to a place that makes up hydraulic hoses, they should know.
You'll find them all over the place farmers use them as they break often.

They are all standard metric sizes. As said above take them off and go to your local Hydraulic specialist ( don't go to Pirtek as they use their own unique sizes) and he will make you what ever you need.

Thanks for your input guys, I found some care of a farmer's hydraulic supply company...

Some of the hard oil lines on the 964, especially between the thermostat and the oil filter have compression nuts that can be slid off the line. Porsche replacement parts are for the whole line and nut assembly and so even if your pipes themselves are in good order you cannot just replace the nut.

The compression nut is a M22 (36mm Spanner) metric nut with 30mm thread (union side) and a 24mm tube hole suitable for the 22mm lines on the 964. The extra 2mm of clearance allows the nut past the formed oil line end. It also has a 1.5mm thread pitch which is harder to find given nuts at M22 are of a size where the thread pitch is commonly 2mm. Also the nut has an extra 2mm of clearance allowing it on and off the oil line. So far the nuts I have found are only 22mm and so, although fitting the union perfectly won't go fit onto the oil line.

Elephant Racing in the USA have made a loose nut, but it's $50 (yes that's right ... each!!) but SURELY they exist SOMEWHERE!

The ones I sourced from the farmer's suppliers were £4 each!!

On Wednesday i'm going to see if I can machine the back of the nut on my mate's Milford Lathe...!
