Howdy CC,
In my view the only person to send air cooled stuff to is George Mc Millan in the north, he is in Ballyclare, which is the far side of Belfast. you would make it to his place in less than 2 hours from Dublin. well lets put it this way, I take the 993TT to him and i live in kilkenny. George was the head technician in Agnew Porsche Belfast and would have worked on the cars when they were being sold new, in fact he has a 964 himself.
Previously I would have taken my cars to Howard Langirdge who unfortunatly passed away recently.
with regard to 964's , I have one but i'm afraid i will be of little use as it will not compare as its more of a race car .
I keep it with 'ring racing' over at the Nordschliffe , its been caged, stripped, suspension changed, etc, etc.
If your lookin for probably the best 964 in Ireland then Alan Wiseman is selling his, or at least he was, it may have gone.
I have drived it and it really, really is in great nic ,although I think the money he is asking is top drawer for a 964 ( if your reading this Alan.. sorry ). Think he wants about 17.5 sterling.
Alan is the secretary of R27 and i think i have his number somewhere. If you are keen my e.mail addy is
mark@patterson-bannon.com
As i say. its nearly early 993 money but it really is in fab nic.
Other than that......go to the UK. try 911virgin.com
With regards to insurance, try xsdirect.com or join the porsche club ireland, if you are a member and have a car over 20 years old you ought to be able to get a limited mile policy for small money.
Hope ive been of help, if you want any other advice then drop me a line
