I personally would. Mine has air-con but doesn't work - may get around to having it repaired at some stage but I haven't missed having the use of it yet.
 
It was my belief that all Celebrations had aircon as standard. Do you mean it's just not working or that it's been removed?? Regards Dave

Andy, I would be VERY surprised if it didn't have it. Knowing how picky Porsche were about the spec of the Celebrations, if it has a numbered plaque on the back shelf I would be astonished if it didn't have aircon. I'm prepared to be surprised though!!! Do you have any details of the car, i.e. Celebration number, Colour, VIN etc. etc. There is a lot of data about on these cars. Regards Dave
 
Easy to check ....A/C compressor fitted , CCU control unit inside has a A/C on - off button for the user to use . And in the bonnet behind the dash, A/C feeder pipes to the evaporator. Personaly if my A/C doesn't work I sort it as i find the 964 in every day use is too hot without one, due to the aircooled engine heat and steaming up windows in the winter. But if its a Sunday car they you might be ok ..up to you.
 
As Dave said, what number is it? I would be amazed to find one without a/c which was a standard feature.
 
Just to update this thread: 542 of the Jubileum models (sometimes known as Celebration) has no aircon fitted. HTH, Bert
 
I wouldnt be buying any 964 that didnt have A/C if ou intend to drive the car around town. In fact I replaced the condensor, receiver/drier, ballast resistor and converted from R12 to R134a as soon as my A/C died. If you are planning on tracking the car the no A/C is a plus, although i personally wouldn't be buying a celebration to do that.
 
Personnaly I dont see the need for AC on the '64. What little warm weather we get in the UK is combatted by opening a window or the sun-roof (ah the 1990's!). The AC systems are prone to faults with age and are a costly repair. Each to their own though. Chris

Actually the system in the 964 is a good little system. the Denso compressor is pretty robust. And it doesnt cost much to replace the receiver drier and condensor (which are often the cause for system failure). O.k it costs a bit more to replace the evaporator but thats not common.
 
If the JUBI is in good order, the aircon or not wouldn't bother me. I've had 964s with and without (and with, but broken)......the other bits are more important. If it's a LHD one, and you don't go for it, please let me know the details, as the prices are crazy for them on the mainland. Jon
