944 turbo identification

Hi,

I'm slightly confused as to what version of 944 I've got, being E reg it's right on the cusp of the change to the later revision of the turbo with 250bhp instead of 220bhp.

So it's an E-reg 944 turbo (stated as '944 turbo' on the v5) and it has, half leather electric seats, same calipers front and back, ABS, adjustable koni suspension and 180mph on the speedo.

I think it's a 220bhp but just wanted to check, additionally anything I can look at to prove it either way (the turbo I assume but what am I looking for?).

Thanks in advance,

Dunc.

I'm pretty sure it's a 220 with M030.

220 has the engine code M 44.51 and the 250 is M 44.52 if you want to be 100% sure.

I think there are also subtle manifold differences between the cars too but I am sure someone with a clue (unlike me) will be along soon to confirm whether this is true or imaginary on my part. I would expect your car to be a 220bhp unless it was a Turbo S.

The VIN should be something like WPOZZZ95Z?N...

What is the letter in place of the "?" It will tell you the model year.

It used to be the case that for members of PCGB Porsche would issue a heritage certificate (maybe i got the name wrong) which told you everything aboit the spec when new, who supplied the car, when etc. worth a thought. I got this for my 964 free so i know it is possible.

Mick

I've read M030 on this forum a few times but no exactly sure what it means I'm afraid?

Thanks,

Dunc.

Can you post pics of the engine bay, between side members and strut towers?

Is the engine number M44/51 or M44/52?

I can't take a look at the engine just now but probably during the week :)

Thanks for the help so far [8D]

E reg should be 220 I think 180mph speedo must been replaced.

What sort off time dose boost build?

M030 brakes should have larger front and smaller rears. On a 250

MY88 220 951s have a 180mph speedometer. If the calipers are similar in appearance front and rear then itll probably an M474 sport suspension option. Adjustable Koni dampers but not the Konis that people are mistaking them for (presuming original).

My F registered 220PS 1988 951 has a 180mph speedometer.

Thanks, it was purchased/delivered in '87 I've discovered looking through some stuff I got with the car, out of interest I'd like to find out what suspension is on it I'll take a look and find out :)

Thanks for the help!

Model year and calendar year aren't the same. Any Turbo built from September 1987 is a 1988 car.
