OK guys. RE my gear select issue it is the clutch. Ouch!

Car is now on a ramp with gearbox out and no one in the country seems to have a clutch kit available. More ouch!

I have tried Frazerpart, Porschapart, Porscheshop, GSF and Euro car parts to no avail. The part has been on back order since June with no expected delivery date.[]

OPC is quoting £1k.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Try Bert Gear at Berlyn services. +44 (0)1271 866818

He can have the parts with you the next day.

Or where in the country are you based? Some Indies may carry a small stock of this part?

They seem to be very hard to get hold of at the moment - a mate of mine bought his from the US a couple of months back as he couldn't find one in the UK at a reasonable price. Shipping from the US is quite quick by DHL/UPS etc..

I'll see what GSF can do for me ;).

They quoted me £420 all in for an S2 clutch (Sachs). If it wasn't for me not being able to get the car from EMC Motorsport any other day (work), I would have got it (EMC's clutch worked out to around as much as FraserPart's with Delivery).

I'm surprised the clutch hasn't got any lighter though to be honest! Maybe the clutch system needs new fluid. But the horrible shaking sensation when it traffic (when you just put the clutch to the biting point) has gone (if you left it in traffic when warm, it would shudder), which apparently is a sign of the rubber clutch on its way out. Oh, it's smoother in other areas too :).

Thanks guys.

I have got one from the US. It is a sachs kit and cost me £350 plus £90 for delivery. There have dispatched it with UPS.

This is pretty much on a par with the Frazerpart price I had already budgeted for so quite happy.

Incidentally, the part is on back order from the supplier with no due date and no one in the UK has any except OPC who want about £1,200 after vat!

The guy in the US has another 3 left at the price I paid so might be worth getting one if you think yours is on the way out. They are very hard to get at the right price as I found out today. :(

Don't know if you were talking to me, but I had mine changed when the engine was swapped. I suspected it was a rubber clutch when in traffic and it juddering in such circumstances, and even though the rubber clutch had some life left in it I felt it would be silly to leave it on the new engine (Kevin and EMC did practically stutter the price of a new clutch to me !).

Hello,

Could you please send me the contact for the guy in the US. I've had a clutch kit on on back order with Frazer Part for months but a manufacturing problem at sachs is delaying orders.

Many Thanks

Doug

Hi Doug, we got the clutch from here!

Very helpful and sent out promptly via USPS Priority. Total was $728 inc postage so about £457 to the door. Don't know if we will get hit for import duty though. I asked if they would put a low customs value on it but they wouldn't, the Americans seem to be funny about that!

I'm guessing they haven't ran out yet. They've been on back order from Sachs since about April with no due date yet. Same thing happened with the clutch for 3.2 911's a few months ago then they just suddenly became available again.
