Arent HT leads and related components supposed to be prime for that ? Also I think my cars idle went dicky when I needed a new MAF , the car ran superbly after the recon MAF was fitted. I'm sure the real experts will be along soon :p Regards Mas

Would the Idle Air Control Valve be sticking perhaps... ? It gunges up with gunk and sticks. I think it is under the manifold .. Take it off and soak both ports with carb cleaner and leave overnight to eat up the gunk.. Clean out with a compressed air line and refit....! I dont have experience of this myself but my old 2ltr Cav would do this on a regular basis... ! As said above an S2 expert will be along soon....[;)]

I had this exact problem and it was a split in the air hose that went into the back of the idle control valve. It's very well hidden under the intake manifold. Easier to feel than to see.
