944 S2 Oil Pressure ?

Having recently purchased my 944 S2 , I noticed that when I first start the engine , the oil pressure gauge shows at the top and does not drop down for about 15-20mins or so . Then it drops to around 3 and when the revs go up the gauge goes up to full bar.
Is this anything that I need to be concerned over ?
I am setting about giving the S2 a right good service and I don't want to be missing anything that might damage the engine ?
I read about the oil pressure relief valve ?
Could this be sticking ? The S2 has covered 139000miles now and has a good service history .

Any tips very welcome thanks.

Sounds normal. Gauge will drop at idle but picks up again as rpm increases. Can drop to as low as 1 bar according to manual I think although mine never goes below about 2.5 at idle if very warm.

Don't worry.

After I had my oprv problems I montored oil pressure with a separate gauge. Cold pressures are 7-8 bar with some revs - well off the scale of the factory gauge.

Hot pressures at idle around 3 bar. (10w40 semi synth)

Not wanting to hijack thread but mine bounces around at idle. Evens out if I give it a bit of accelarator. Is that pointing to bad earth or sender or something else?

I can start a thread and you can contribute to my thread ! This is not hijacking , don't worry that is what the forum is for .

I think is means check the out put on your alternator ? This in turn may affect the instrument readings ?

Failing that I may be tempted to replace the oil pressure switch ?
