Just after a link to a guide for removing the cylinder head from an S2 and also a rough idea how hard or easy it is with a little mechanical knowledge and know how.

The basic concept of head removal for a 944 is covered on Clark's garage. As you'll no doubt be aware the S and S2 engine(s) are notably different to the other 944 engines with an extra cam chain etc. as long a you're happy doing timing stuff including the two belts (timing and balance ) it should be relatively straightforward for a ' weekend warrior' . Zacgop aka Oli will be a good guide for you as he tinkers a lot with his S2.

Chris

Thanks for the info, iunderstand the basic similarities between the 8v and 16v and re-setting the timing is probably the least of my worries, assuming the torque sequence is similar for both types of heads?

I removed mine last month,to find a knackered bore(replacement engine waiting to be rebuilt after the ok from my engine man)
I took loads of photos during removal being as its my first attempt on the Porsche, and i need a reference of where everything goes
Its not a that complicated really if you are used to tinkering with engines occasionally
