944 rough idling and juddering when accelerating on cold start

I have a 1984 lux 944 and recently have been experiencing rougher than usual starts. When accelerating off on a cold start the car judders for lack of a better word so I have to keep the revs down to 1500 as otherwise it's not happy. This stops after the car has warmed up after 10/15mins but is still slightly worrying.

I've changed my spark plugs which did make the car feel a little more responsive, but hasn't fixed the cold start acceleration problem. My next step was to try using some fuel injector cleaner such as the Royal purple max atomizer...but again unsure if this is the next best thing to try.

Has anyone else experienced something similar and managed to fix it?

Could be the DME temperature sensor has gone bad, pretty easy to test it with a multi-meter. There are more troubleshooting steps in the Clarks Garage guide I've linked to below. Good luck and let us know how you get on!

You said it gets better when the engine is warm which points to the temp sensor, vacuum leak would cause rough running all the time.
