944 Register database

Hi all,

Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to leave this pinned to the top of the forum.

There has been, shall we say, a rather large response to my post on the 944 database. Most of the questions are from people who have filled in a form, in which case e-mail me direct and I can tell you if you are on there.

If you are new to the register, you will need to fill out a form in order to be on the database. If you need a form, e-mail me your address and I'll send it out with a rather cool register sticker - while stocks last.

If you've changed cars, engines, colours, interiors etc, please tell me and HQ, and there is some chance that the details will be updated!

If you just want a free sticker, I can let you know where to send a stamped addressed envelope.

Paul the moderator -- not signed up with you before, but occasionally look at the chat. Bought the car when I was running a 911 and wanted a different driving experience before the great scrapyard in the sky beckoned. Acquired low mileage 2nd hand from that well-known East Anglian OPC. Salesperson said " it was the M.D.'s car." Funny -- that was the tale when I bought the 911 twenty years ago from another OPC. Nothing wrong with either car, but that language is code for " Demonstrator " ! A great drive, preferred in the winter over the early 911 for comfort, space etc.
Details : 944S2 1990 G, bought Nov.1990 @ 9K miles
Panther Black, part linen leather, usual extras, present mileage 63K.
p.s. My login is pure fantasy, hoping to sell the plate on one day.

Hi Paul,

This is probably a real 'Noddy' question, but I can't find the engine number on my S2 Cabriolet.

Could you tell me where I'll find it please?

Thanks.

George horpefully this description and picture will help:

1 Lean over the front wing on the drivers side (with bonnet up [;)])
2 Look down between the bottom left corner of the beige cam cover and the exhaust manifold.
3 The engine number is on the horizontal surface where the head joins the block at this bottom left corner.
4 This photo shows my engine number with the head off, but in exactly the same orientation as your view when you lean over your wing. Your number may well be not as clean as this [:)]

Just got my car, a white 1992 S2,so I need to get on the club database. Please send a form and a register sticker.

This my second attempt to get on the road in Porsche.....the first, an azurite blue S", was rear ended by white van man and pronounced an uneconomical repair. Ouch!

Hi Paul, I'd like you to E-mail me a register form, and one of your cool stickers would be nice too!
