Hi

I live near Ledbury in the UK, I need to get a bottom end rebuild of my engine, can anyone give me recommendations of garages to use? I am looking for specialists, in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire or West Midlands? I have utilised search engines/AI to this point and recommendations are either Augment Automotive/Club Autosport in this region or JMG Porsche from further afield.

Now hoping to get some feedback from real humans with actual experience :)

The car a 2.5L 1984 (See below)

Hey Liam! - not far from you, live near Bromyard.

Are you looking to do any of the work yourself or just handover the whole thing to a garage to remove the engine and rebuild etc?

There is a specialist right in Ledbury called EMC, they used to build lots of 944 and 968 engines for race series etc and used to be based in Birmingham but recently (in the last couple of years) moved to Ledbury and reduced their operation a little.

They can be a bit fickle however, last time I spoke to them they were not doing any transaxle work, but then recently I've spotted 968s getting work done. I'd recommend give them a shout first seeing as they are on your doorstep.

Hi Liam,
Tom Barker and his team at Augment Automotive did all belts & pulleys and front & rear suspension for my 1990 944S2 and I was very happy with the work done, their obvious experience on 944 and their attitude throughout - very much problem solvers. No hesitation in recommending them for 944 work. I’ll definitely go back to them if I need further work. Hope this helps.

Sounds like plenty of options nearby - having seen subpar work (and enormous bills) done by your “further afield” suggestion I wouldn’t go there.
