944 2.5 lux Front shockers

My car failed its MOT on one of the front shocker leaking oil, I contemplated trying to fit a pair from an S2 ,however I was wisely advised on here that they would not fit. So I bought a pair elsewhere second hand.... which I was assured were correct for an 84 model 2.5.

On attempting to fit them, the bolt hole centers on the clamp at the bottom of the strut were a different pitch and the part on the back of the hub assembly was to thick to fit into the clamp!

I will obviously be contacting the supplier, however has anyone any idea where I can get information on the various shockers that were fitted to the early 2.5? so I can be sure I get the right ones next time?

Thanks Tony

You have post 87 shocks so thats why they wont fit. Pretty sure the pre 87 shocks have replaceable inserts though so new parts should be cheaper. try Eurocarparts or Berlyn,

Thanks guys for the feedback, from looking at the Pelicanparts site, I was tring to fit S2 struts, which is annoying when I bought from someone who deals in 944 parts........... and I specified it was an early model and as the S2 ones were not suitable for mine.

The bright side is that I'm now a bit more familiar with whats under the wheel arches and once I have the right unit, its straight forward to fit.

Thanks,

Tony

I'm about to replaced my front as well ...but I am going to replace with the Koni insert and keep the oem struts though with lower spax spring along with a pair of Koni rear shocks .
