928 sills

Yes, I know that this is the 944 forum but the 928 forum is as dead as the Greek economy so, anyone know if 928s have the same sill corrosion issues as 944s?

If you want to know anything at all about 928 structural corrosion and bodywork, the people who know most about them to my knowledge are Dave McLaughlin ,or Gordon the sheet metal guy, at Daytona Coachworx. They never seem to be without one undergoing some sort of restoration in the workshop. Sometimes three or four...

They are very busy (mainly on my car at the moment) but also very good. It might be worth you seeing if you could get 5 mins on the phone to discuss the vulnerable areas of the 928, or if you are looking at a specific car they might know it, or if you are looking for one they might know a good one for sale.

James, a lot of the external panels on the 928 are light alloy, but there is a lot of steel in the underlying structure too. Light alloys can also corrode - ask anyone in the old aeroplane business - and on some vehicles the interfaces between light alloy and steel can be trouble spots due to galvanitic corrosion.

They do seem to have a lot of 928 egs on their web site! I particularly like the black S/S2 that they have done.
