Probably old news now, but it looks like Freisinger have finished their build of 924 GTR 019.

The car has been assembled from mainly Genuine New Old Stock parts bought up from the factory [8D] Hence the follow-on build number 019

I'm in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! want want want!!!

Hopefully the car gets a bit of sympathetic use rather than being put in a garage never to be seen again..!

That would be really nice at Silverstone Classic [;)] Stunning car ..!

Looks great and lets hope it gets used!

Is it my eyes or is the door doing a 'Procol Harum?[8|]'

Can someone talk me though what we are looking at in this photo? I can make out the rocker cover/cam box, but what is the thing in front of it with the 'Porsche' lettering on top and the huge duct thing on the end of it? I'd guess that it is an inlet manifold with a (very cumbersome) connection to an intercooler and that the car is forced induction - is this correct? If it is then surely they could have found a more elegant engineering solution to the pipework?

Or have I misunderstood it totally?

Oli.

924 GTR would be my "lottery win car"! Thanks for sharing that...not old news to me. I agree, would be wonderful to see it run rather than stuffed in a museum. Le Mans Classic?

The picture showing the engine certainly raises some questions :

- the cable to the throttle linkage goes through that welded tube behind the intercooler?

- are the four connections on the intake plenum used for water injection?

- this engine is apparently dry-sumped. Shouldn't there be a one-way valve in the the line between the intake plenum and the crankcase ventilation cover? Dry sump engines usually run far more crankcase vacuum than others, so if there is no one way valve to block crankcase pressure build up under boost, how could that work?

Another interesting picture showing the use of a massive oil cooler below/aft of the intercooler - but where do they put the main radiator? Unless this engine is actually air-cooled? [:D]

This build and this thread are pure pornography. I need one of these!

My first guess was a 2nd set of injectors in the intake manifold to help supply enough fuel and cool the backs of the valves etc but the connections look wrong for that. Perhaps some water/ethanol mix as you suggest?

Regards,

Ben

P.s. That intercooler to manifold connection looks built for MAXIMUM speed of airflow, minimum turbulance. Surely not going to help mix the fuel/water/ethanol in the intake manifold if that is what those connections are for?

Move over 911 Carrera R, RS's and RSR's at classic Le Mans, the real deal is here ......... 924 GT, GTS's and R's are now 30 years old and eligible for 2012 [;)]

The main reason I want to be there next year. (Plus a two dozen other reasons!)

My guess is that they are a second set of injectors for fueling enrichment. This would be in-line with an uprated version of the 924 GTS system which uses an 8-Port K-Jet fuel distributer similar to an early 928. The GTR has a very pricey looking Kugelfischer motorsport system.

Here is an image from the original factory build.

This photo, from the restoration of the Al Holbert / Derek Bell GTR, shows what appears to be three water radiators, infront of said massive oil cooler and barn-door intercooler... [&:]
