912 Oil

As a novice owner of a 1967 912 I would be grateful for any advice on the correct engine oil to use. I believe it is presently running on Comma Premium 20w50 Multigrade.

Many thanks

Hi,

I use Castrol Magnatex semi-synthetic oil in my 1966 912. (As recommended by Gantspeed)

Hi, I was recommended to use the 20w 50 by Max at Revival. Not sure if you were at the Chatsworth Porsche Day but my 912 won the air cooled 1st! I was very surprised as it was its first time out.
I need to register with you and put my details on the 912 register. Shall I send them to you?

Hi, yes total rebuild, twice! The final was carried out by a specialist and expensive lesson learned. Max at Revival has been brilliant and would not go to anyone else. It involved a complete strip down with all shell bearings, pistons and barrels replaced then rebuilt. As you would expect, it runs really well.
I have now done 2000 miles since the rebuild so is going back to Max for another oil change and valve resetting.
`I am also going for a quick shifter on the gears to make the gear change a little more 'modern' if that makes sense. Have any of you had any experience in the use of this?
Max will fit it though.

The colour is a Porsche slate grey which is now quite popular since the Steve Mcqueen 911 sale recently..

Cheers,
M
