I agree with Alan.. if the car didn' t have it , don' t put it on. They' re much nicer without the fin.

If you do fit a tail (remember it does aid high speed driving) remember to fit the front lip spoiler to otherwise the balance would be out.

if I were to fit one I' d go for either a ducktail like Pelican Parts forum poster Mark Wilson

or if you have a bit more money you could retro-fit a 964 pop-up spoiler like Jack Olsen (P.P poster). This requires a bit of modification but keeps the lines of the car original. I think both look more ' classic' 911 than the Tea-tray type ones.

How to.

911sc,

If you want to fit a rear spoiler (and also the front rubber lip) keep an eye on the classifieds in Porsche & 911 World, or Porsche Post (PCGB Club Monthly Magazine).

Alternatively, give one of the Porsche Breakers a call, here' s a few of the better known ones:
Porsch-apart 01706 824053
Europorscha 0208 900 0900
Discount 9 Autotech 01656 740991
www.douglasvalley.co.uk 01257 472866

Also, take a look at other areas of this forum for info on Eynsham Hall Annual Show Aug 30/31 - I believe there' s an autojumble there (Sunday only) and you should be able to find plenty of examples of what you need (different styles, conditions, prices, etc).

I know it's not for everybody but if you do choose to fit a rear spoiler and a front rubber it could look like this. It's your car do what you like best if you ask me. Unless you're going for originality, in that case leave it as it is. HAPPY MOTERING (This is the same car; it just had some different wheels at one time)

Thanks for all the replies and advice, much appreciated. Will post some before and after photos.

Seems to me it' s personal taste but I believe my sport came with the front and rear spoilers as part of the sport package so it' s original Porsche, hardly a bolt on.
This debate seems to polarise opinion. If you don' t have spoilers, then you think it looks better, and if you do have spoilers, you think it looks better. Funny that - shades of Christine Keeler " well, they would say that, wouldn' t they?"
It' s a bit like that Targa v Coupe debate - but lets not even go there!
Enjoy.
Cheers

shades of Christine Keeler " well, they would say that, wouldn' t they?"

I thought it was Mandy Rice Davies (sic), but I could be wrong.

Now this is what I call a serious discussion !

Probably right John - but I was actually trying to be light hearted as well. Anyway, I like my spoilers and they give me that much needed down force when I' m touching 140 on my way home from work every day.

when I' m touching 140 on my way home from work every day

I assume that this is a continuation of the ' light-hearted' bit - at least, I hope so !

I have always prefered spoilers on 911s, as I find the ' original' shape a bit bland/unfinished. Mine even has a turbo tail (necessity, not design - it used to have the standard 3.2 tail)

Now I'm getting really confused should I bolt on or not? That's if I find one. I like the sound of doing 140 on the way home from work, never had a car that could.

Design 911 do a version:

They also do the Porsche original which is a bit more expensive.
They are tricky to change.
In our SC resource section we have an article about it.
